Educating and maintaining corporate social responsibility on the environment
This week, our entire schedule was filled with CSR programs with various local and international companies in Singapore, from various banks to technological companies, all of whom provide different services and in different sectors of Singapore. These plethora of companies participated in a variety of activities, including foot programs, pedal and power boats, and kayaking.
It is highly important to continue to share and emphasise the importance of protecting Singapore’s waters and environment to both the young and old, and most importantly, our working population. With the working population being the majority of Singapore, and who have the biggest influence on improving Singapore’s current environment. CSR programs aim to educate and maintain the importance of social responsibility among working adults of Singapore, as improving our current environment is important to protecting and ensuring a future environment.
One disappointing report we like to share is our Bike Patrol at Jurong Lakeside Gardens covering the recently opened Skate Board Park. We have submitted separately a detailed report of our observations and concerns and hope NParks will look into this. Quite a lot of trash and not in easy accessible areas to pick-up.
Summary of Activities conducted for the Week
In summary, the following activities were done for this week:
- We conducted 10 CSR and no VIA programs which were attended by 218 participants, and together they collected a total of 532 kg of litter.
- This week a total of 53 members were involved in CSR/VIA programs, talk, patrols, administration, housekeeping duties, and training
- The total trash collected by the patrol groups was 29 kg.
- Boat Patrol. 6 boat patrols were carried out; 2 at Marina, 2 at Punggol, and 2 at Lakeside.
- Bike Patrol. A total of 3 Bike patrols were carried out; 2 at Marina, and 1 at Lakeside.
- Foot Patrol. We conducted 1 Foot Patrol at Pang Sua.
- Pedal boat Patrol. 1 Pedal Boat patrol was conducted at Marina.
Once again, we thank all members and volunteers, who came for patrol or for facilitating the CSR/VIA programs, for your time and dedication to the task.
