Dear Friends,
OVERVIEW
“Their Thoughts, Actions and Beliefs Are Moulded By Their Environment Over Time! ”
Are children interested in their environment and the waterways in particular?
Yes, indeed they do! We saw that this week when about twenty kids and their accompanying staff from My First Skool@Woodlands came to Kallang. They were intrigued by the story-telling about the impact of litter on marine lives, and they were inquisitive about what they saw during the outdoor walkabout along the waterline when our facilitators showed them the actual litter in the water.
“Children’s thoughts, actions and beliefs are moulded by their environment and the people around them over time. They constantly watch, listen, learn and emulate the way people act around them. As parents and educators, it’s our duty to ensure we are intentionally setting a positive example and influencing our children, more so for the environment”.
Hence, in the Waterways Watch Society, the objective of our environmental education for kids is threefold;
- To make them more aware and conscious of environmental problems.
- To boost their interest in caring for and improving the environment.
- To enhance their ability to learn about their surroundings.
Waterways Watch society looks forward to seeing more pre-school children coming to have this opportunity to learn about keeping the environment and our waterways clean and safe.
