OVERVIEW

“Love Our Neighbourhood, Everyone Has A Part to Play”

This week our members at Pang Sua, while on their weekly patrol, walked into a HDB housing estate (see photos above). They were pleasantly surprised by the beautifully sculptured landscape near to the apartments. Surely this must be made for wonderful living! But they were disappointed to see litter (a shirt hanger, discarded tissue paper and a beer can on the ground. Just a little further down was a huge recycling bin with boxes left on the side of the bin. How much more must be done to educate our people to appreciate the surroundings in their neighbourhood? Why do some of us take things for granted?

In our parks, likewise, everyone needs to play a part to keep our environment clean and safe for all. From our weekly patrols, however, it seems that much more needs to be done too. We certainly cannot depend on our public cleaners alone to do it, let alone our volunteers.

Summary of Activities conducted for the Week

In summary, the following activities were done for this week:

We conducted 3 CSR programmes which were attended by a total of 150 participants and together they collected a total of 116 kg of litter.
This week a total of 93 members were involved for CSR/VIA programmes, talk, patrols, administration, housekeeping duties and training and, the total trash collected = 216 kg.
- Boat Patrol. A total of 4 Boat patrols were carried out; 1 at Marina, 2 at Punggol and 1 at Lakeside.
- Bike Patrol. A total of 4 Bike patrols were carried out; 1 at Marina, 1 at Punggol and 2 at Lakeside.
- Foot Patrol. We conducted 1 Foot Patrol each at Punggol and Pang Sua.
- Pedal boat Patrol. 3 Pedal Boat patrols were conducted; 2 at Marina and 1 at Lakeside.
- Physical Bike and Boat Clean Up Orientation for New Applicants. This was conducted for 19 new members at Marina.

Once again, we thank all members and volunteers, who came for patrol or for facilitating the CSR/VIA programmes, for your time and dedication to the task.
