Dear Friends,
OVERVIEW
“Help to maintain our Sporting Venues’ clean, out of Respect”
Some of our members saw this video clip on social media about Japanese spectators at a World Cup match in Qatar; they were clearing litter left behind after a match. What was unique about this was that it wasn’t a match where Japan was playing. They did it because they felt it was a social responsibility for any individual to do it, that is to keep the place clean and because they respected the place. It reminded us that there was a similar situation happening at our own doorsteps, that is, the Japanese community did it at our local sporting events.
Is there anything we can learn from the Japanese community, the people? Certainly, we can. Perhaps, for a start, Sport Singapore could take on this challenge to introduce more sustainable and meaningful guidelines at all sporting events to encourage our people to be more socially responsible to keep the sports venues clean after an event. Take a leaf from the Japanese!
