Dear Friends,
OVERVIEW
“Sharing the Work We Do with the World”
Our CEO is leading the way…..
On Saturday 3 Sep, our CEO Eugene Heng was interviewed by the Shanghai Media while cruising down the Marina reservoir. Shanghai Media Group represents one of China’s largest state-owned media and cultural conglomerates. They wanted to know about the history of the Singapore River and Kallang and how we, as a country, have cleaned and changed the image of the Marina-Kallang area that it is now not only serving as a commercial and tourist hub, but as an important water catchment area. They also wanted to know how as an NGO, Waterways Watch Society could take on the task to engage and share with the community to bring more awareness and encourage greater social responsibility to care for the environment and appreciating our Water. They hope to showcase what Singapore has achieved and to encourage their citizens to do the same. This report would be broadcasted both on TV and online during their 2022 Shanghai Tourism Festival Special Live Program. It is an important sharing indeed by our CEO to put our country on the international stage with regard to our overall effort to conserve water.
Earlier in the week, Eugene was interviewed by another media outlet, Singapore River One (SRO). SRO was incepted in 2012 as the Place Manager of the Singapore River precinct, which includes Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay and its aim is to create the place to be a more welcoming and vibrant place. It focused on making Singapore River the destination of choice for businesses and visitors.
Both these two interviews are important platforms which will showcase the role of the Waterways Watch Society internationally and locally in helping to drive the message of keeping our environment and waterways clean and safe. In this regard, we cannot overemphasise that our volunteers’ effort and tasks are important. We must continue to work tirelessly.
