Dear Friends,

“Leave No Trace Behind”
Food pack left behind at the abandoned River Cruise ticket booth

On Saturday 2 July, our members at Kallang while on patrol chanced upon a food pack being left behind at a River Cruise kiosk booth. Looking at the packet, we suspect that this was a catered food for some function along the waterways. If this is the case, there is a need on the part of the organiser(s) to ensure that such actions be curtailed. The personnel should be told not to litter or better still, eat at a designated area where control measures can be executed efficiently. Such control measures cannot be understated as inappropriate actions by their personnel can tarnish the image of the organisation concerned. We must ‘Leave No Trace Behind!’ . NEA, we are sure can easily identify the event.
The following activities were done for the week:
- We conducted 9 CSR and 1 VIA programmes which were attended by 514 participants and 209 participants respectively, and together they collected a total of 754 kg of litter.
- We conducted a Learning journey to Lower Seletar reservoir for 40 students from Sembawang Primary School.
- We conducted an Assembly Talk at Frontier Primary School for 209 students and on the same day, these students came down to Kallang for a Foot Clean up programme at Kallang, the largest group attending a programme thus far.
- We conducted a Beach Clean up at Changi for 130 participants.
- This week a total of 159 members were involved for CSR/VIA programmes, talk, patrols, administration, housekeeping duties and training and, the total trash collected = 827 kg.
