Dear Friends,
Last week was shorter due to the public holiday. What’s more, we returned to Phase II (Heightened Alert) starting from Thursday and thus we had one CSR programme with May Bank on Friday that was cancelled. Over the earlier part of the week, we still managed to do 4 programmes in total: one Kayak Cleanup with 21 participants from WWF, one customised programme for 10 kids from Vivo Kids, one Virtual Assembly Talk sponsored by NWCDC for 50 students from Admiralty Secondary School, and last but not least with collaborating with NPark we did one River Monster Junior Programme which over 100 kids participated. The WWF participants collected 78kg of litter and 20 masking during the kayak cleanup (see photos). The Vivo kids did a simple foot cleanup around Kallang Riverside park and picked up 7kg of litter. They then did some upcycling flower pots and planted some seedlings (see photos).
Obviously all our other programs were cancelled or postponed except for some virtual ones. In total, 6 during this heightened period.
All patrol activity was cancelled for this week. On Sunday morning, we invited 8 new members, who were originally scheduled to have orientation, to attend a virtual briefing instead. The 6 of them attended the virtual briefing.
In order to keep our members connected to each other during this Heightened Alert period, Waterways Watch Society will conduct a Diary of Events over three weekends. The event schedule is listed below and we will e-blast the details via members’ group chats later this week.
