Dear friends,
This week was another successful week for WWS. Riverside Primary School and Spectra Secondary School brought a whole cohort of students for River Monster Program to wws. 220 students and 232 student respectively. There were 22 students from Temasek Secondary School and 22 student from Greenridge Secondary School and they did foot Waterway Clean-up. Due to the large number of students, instead of Kallang Riverside Park, we brought one group to the Rocher River behind ICA Building. At that sport, students found lots of cigarette butts, beer bottles and plastic cups and one boy reflected that he would ask his father not to throw cigarette butts on the floor any more. As for corporates and other organizations, NVPC did back to back Kayak Waterways Clean-up for 85 new citizens. There were also two sessions with OBS involving 89 students doing our kayak cleanup. Other than that, 20 participants from Travelport also did Kayak Clean-up. In addition 40 staff from Building & Construction Authority did a clean-up on foot at Jurong Lakeside Garden, that was our first program at Jurong Office and a success.
WWS supported safety boat for volocopter trial on Marina Reservoir for two days.
Two recces were done with Maybank and Shuqun Primary School for the coming programs. We had a meeting with NVPC and the new vendors to discuss collaboration in next year and also had a meeting with P & W to finalise details of Tri-Amazing Race.
The total little collected was 118.5kg.
This week, three members did one boat patrol at Punggol Waterways on weekdays, six members did bike patrol at Marina at Saturday. All patrols on Sunday for our three sites were cancelled due to Deepavali however on monday, 9 members did kayak and 8 on boat patrol at Lakeside Reservoir.
The Punggol weekday boat patrol spotted the stray dogs at PUB Station 19. One member also noticed that along the path heading towards Punggol Settlements on the left side and Coney Island on the right side, there’s about five or six lamp lightings not working. On Saturday, members noticed that behind the Fishing zone jetty under Sir Arthur Bridge, water is stagnant at the corner and full of rubbish (see photo). Litter nowadays frequently spotted outside Sports Hub. The plants in front of Sports Hub also trapped lots of rubbish (see photo).
One illegal fisherman was engaged and he complied on Saturday at Marina.
