Dear friends,
Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to all our partners and supporters. While it was pre-christmas week, and generally slow, we still managed to do a total of 5 programs – 2 for schools and 3 for corporates. For schools, we had a Bicycle Clean up program with Temasek Polytechnic students and a Kayak Clean up program with Ngee Ann Polytechnic students. For corporates, we had a Kayak Clean up program for Grace Baptist Church, a Power boat, Pedal boat and Kayak Clean up program with Facebook and a Pedal boat Clean up program with National Environment Agency (NEA). There were 5 safety boat duties done this week. During this week’s program, we collected a total of 116.5KG of litter, where over 70% were of plastic origin.
In addition, we had a 2 full-day first aid course for 14 members on both Saturday and Sunday. They will be having their test this coming Saturday afternoon.
During one of our clean up program this week, our members sighted many animals that were drowned after a short downpour that day, which included a dead cat, dead mouse, tortoise etc.
This week, we had a weekday boat patrol at Punggol Waterways and a Sunday Weekend boat patrol in Marina. There was no patrol on Saturday. In total, we had support from 31 members in Marina and 2 in Punggol this week. There were 23 fishing engagements made this week but there were no anti-littering engagement made. Card playing was sighted just behind our office (pavilion 2) but no evidence of money when we went past. However we suspect they were gambling.
