It was another busy week for Waterways Watch Society.
Assembly Talks and Lunch Talk
We conducted 2 Assembly Talks – RMJ for Mosiac kindergarten and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
We also did 1 Assembly Talk for Ang Mo Kio Secondary School sponsored by Singapore Press Holdings Limited. In total, we outreach to about 1500 students and teachers.
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Program
We conducted Kayak Waterway Clean-up for Visenti Pte Ltd (Xylem) and National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, with 29 and 38 participants respectively. In addition, WWF engaged us to organise Coastal Clean-up for 220 staff from Taylor and Francis as a CSR.
School Educational Program
We conducted 2 Kayak Waterway Clean-up (60 students) and 1 Coastal Clean-up (140 students) for Ngee Ann Polytechnic. We also facilitated 2 WWE at Pang Sua Pond for a total of 74 students from Westwood Secondary School.
Weekend Patrol
A total of 30 members did weekend duties for our Punggol Branch and Marina, 2 of them were new members doing their orientation. There were 2 cases of illegal fishing spotted in Marina and 1spotted in Punggol side, with a total of 6 individuals engaged. Additionally, we did 1 special Kayak and Boat patrols to Potong Pasir on Good Friday, 21 members were involved.
Members Patrol had about 6 engagement on Fishing along Sungei Kallang upstream (Friday groups of 2-4 Chinese fishermen 1600hrs.), 1 near the fountain in Kallang (3 Malays on Sunday 1100hrs.). Anti-littering engaged about 32 and the public area was found to be generally clean with fewer numbers using (maybe the hot season). Total litter collected for the week was 53 kg.
On Sunday, bike patrol visited post-NWSH 2019- National Workplace Safety and Health Campaign- very dirty, near Passion Wave PA Office. Shame on those who organised this event. (See photos).
Others
2 members did 1 weekday patrol in Punggol branch and in total we had 2 Safety boat service.
During the week we conducted an unsuccessful interview for new staff, attended a meeting conducted by PUB on boat safety, a meeting on IT requirements with our IT Dept. and another visit to our Jurong Office.
