Dear Friends,
OVERVIEW
It was a quiet and short week for us leading up to National Day weekend, giving our admin team ample time to catch up on our housekeeping and administrative work. We also celebrated Singapore’s Olympic achievements in our own ways (Olympic rings using our recycled hula hoops!).
This week, we conducted 3 corporate programmes for FILTROX, SLB and AstraZeneca and they managed to collect 101kg of trash in total. Members duties collected 32 kg with 55 members participating in the patrols. During the weekend patrols, we noticed a significant increase in rubbish left in the public and park areas after the National Day holiday on Friday. Contrary to government beliefs, there is still much to do with educating and improving social behaviour. Many still only know how to enjoy but do not know about enjoying with social responsibility. Our volunteers worked extra hard this week to keep our waterways clean but WWS hopes that Singapore remains environmentally responsible even in times of celebration! Taking care of our country is a prime example of patriotism. Majullah Singapura!
