Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

Even President’s work at WWS!

The week was very active for Waterways Watch Society. We did a combination of 4 school programmes covering assembly talks and learning journeys (for a group of foreign students from China arranged by Empact, Peicai Secondary School, West View Primary School and Springfield Secondary School) and 8 corporate programmes (for Visit.org, MSE, Advario, Keppel, Siemens, Adobe, WWF and OTIS). There was also members patrol on Wednesday (Punggol), Saturday (Pang Sua, Marina and Punggol) and Sunday (Marina and Lakeside) which were well supported with 62 members present. Our garden crew was also present on Saturday and Sunday and even our President did some grass cutting.

While litter appears not to be reducing, plastics continue to be a major concern of Singapore. This week our patrols and programmes picked-up a total of 383kg including plastic origin items.

Thank goodness we have such passionate members and support from Schools and Corporates, trying to spread the message of good public hygiene with our sustainable “Tell, Show and Do Programmes.”A big thank you from Waterways Watch.
