Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

Another week of activities and as expected, mostly with Corporates although we still had one VIA with Middleton International School doing a VIA WWE at Kallang. Waterways Watch is very pleased to have conducted a successful beach clean-up for Coca Cola with over 180 of their employees, collecting over one ton of litter. The rest of the week had us engaging corporates like QBE Insurance, Fitch Rating (Visit.org), DBS, OCBC, Arcadium Lithium, Ernst & Young and FedEx. A variety of different corporations but all sharing a common interest cause- Sustainable Environment.

It was another good week for WWS. In total, we engaged 439 employees from the corporate world and 23 from the school.  We collected a total of 1633 kg just for these CSR/VIA programmes.  This was besides our members doing environmental patrols at Punggol, Lakeside and Kallang/Marina. Lakeside also had a Kayak clean-up on Sunday and this time they were not disappointed as the weather was great for the group of 16 members.

During member’s patrol, sightings of fishing outside authorised zones, smoking and illegal hawking in the public park are still present, especially around Marina Reservoir. We will engage where appropriate and in most cases, they do comply.
