Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

“Our Family, Community”

In our recent community event, the Punggol team gathered for a memorable BBQ, emphasizing the values of community and family spirit. Beyond the delicious food and enjoyable company, the event highlights our commitment to fostering strong bonds within the neighborhood. The relaxed atmosphere provided an ideal setting for team members and residents alike to connect, reinforcing a sense of unity that goes beyond daily interactions.

In Waterways Watch Society, we aim to reflect our broader dedication to contributing to the well-being of society. Our collective efforts extend beyond our immediate community, emphasizing the importance of supporting organizations that work towards positive societal impacts. This event was not only an opportunity to strengthen our local ties but also a chance to make a meaningful contribution to the wider social fabric.

As we reflect on the success of the BBQ, it serves as a reminder of the power of collective action and the positive influence a united community can have. Moving forward, we aim to build on this momentum, fostering a supportive environment and encouraging continued community engagement. The Punggol team looks forward to more events that not only bring joy to our residents but also contribute to the greater good of society.

Summary of Activities conducted for the Week

In summary, the following activities were done for this week:

  1. We conducted 7 CSR and 4 VIA programs which were attended by 844 participants, and together they collected a total of 237 kg of litter. It was a hectic week for us.
  2. This week a total of 72 members were involved in CSR/VIA programs, talk, patrols, administration, housekeeping duties, and training.
  3. The total trash collected by the patrol groups was 57 kg.
    • Boat Patrol. 4 boat patrols were carried out; 2 at Marina, 1 at Jurong Lakeside and 1 at Punggol.
    • Bike Patrol. A total of 3 Bike patrols were carried out; 2 at Marina and 1 at Jurong Lakeside.
    • Pedal boat Patrol. No Patrol.
    • Foot Patrol. 1 Foot Patrol was carried out at Pang-Sua.
    • Gardening. A team of 7 pax for gardening at Marina for both Sunday and Saturday.

Once again, we sincerely thank all members and volunteers, who came for patrol or for facilitating the CSR/VIA programs, for your time and dedication to the task. Without your support we would not have been able to achieve this. Special mention to the teachers of Pathlight who came down in strength to participate in our kayak cleanup programme. Three cheers to the teachers, students and our facilitators! Young and old, we all must care for our environment. Sustainability is the only way forward.
