Ramping up?
Dear Friends,
This is another exciting week for Waterways Watch Society. We are moving into a peak period on our activities and we are happy that many volunteers (corporate, students & members) are all excited to help clean our waterways. We had a total of 240 CSR/VIA volunteers & 98 members helping out for the week. We were also visited by PUB themselves for a clean up activity. It was a bummer that the Sunday rain prevented our members from doing the usual patrol at Jurong, but they took the time to spruce up the office.
We are also glad that some interns have expressed their desire to work with us for their learning and we are expecting some of them to join us in the coming months. We hope we will be able to value-add to their lives; and they can do the same for our Society with their fresh ideas.
On the other hand though, we were not impressed with the civic mindedness of our park users. We continue to see illegal fishing; and this week, even a pedestrian getting knocked over by a cyclist. We managed to render first aid to her and she was able to head off safely for further care. Many thanks to our patrol members and other passers-by who helped in whichever way possible. You made it possible for everyone.
