“Anti-social, the new in thing?”
Dear Friends,
We return to normal patrols this week, with an astounding 104 members helping out, collecting 84kg of rubbish. We are also seeing an increase in the number of corporate and school programmes as we approach World Water Day in March. As such, our kayak leaders took the initiative to run a Kayak Safety Refresher, as well as 2 kayak patrols this week to get everyone in gear. Much was shared and learned!
Unfortunately, one of our boats and Marina experienced a malfunction on Saturday, but we safely towed the boat and the crew back. We are looking into the issue and hopefully get it back and running soon with no big expense incurred.
This week also saw many recalcitrant people fishing along Marina Reservoir outside of the fishing zones. Despite reminders and engagement, there are a handful that disregard the safety of others and continue as they wish. We even had a canopy torn by a fishing hook! Will Singaporeans learn so we can have nice things? Or must more rules and fines be introduced?
Next week, we will receive the new Budget 2025. Hopefully there will be something for NGOs’ like us to cheer about! Often we tend to forget the softskills and simple actions and only look towards the 3Cs!! Investing for our future is no easy task when it relates to the type of work we do!
