Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

Monkeys, Hornbills, and a Trash Tsunami: The Wild Weekend Cleanup Chronicles

Saturday was anything but ordinary for our members, filled with wildlife surprises and environmental challenges. At Kallang, a curious monkey made an appearance, while over in Punggol, a majestic hornbill and a vibrant green ‘iguana’ lizard added a splash of excitement to the day’s adventure.

But amid the wildlife wonders, the litter situation at Punggol cast a shadow. In the morning, members tackled the mess head-on, collecting 5 cans, 12 plastic bottles, and an astounding 50+ plastic bags, totaling 15 kg of trash. Even with this effort, the afternoon boat patrol still scooped up 14 more cans, 26 plastic bottles, and 6 plastic bags, adding another 2.5kg to the ongoing battle against pollution.

The weekend brought both awe and action, reminding us of the delicate balance between nature’s beauty and human responsibility!
