Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

“Values-In-Action”

We have just kicked off our VIA activities for 2024, and this week we conducted an Assembly Talk at Ang Mo Kio Secondary School and engaged in VIA River Monster projects at Sembawang Primary School, focusing on tackling trash. We are thrilled to begin teaching and educating these children about the vital importance of maintaining clean environments and waterways.

It is exciting to see the enthusiasm to make a positive impact. By emphasizing the significance of environmental conservation, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and sustainability. The VIA River Monster initiative at Sembawang Primary School, targeting the issue of trash, provides a hands-on and memorable learning experience.

Interesting to share, we had our first own VIA for senior citizens from SASCO. Waterways, in support of our seniors, launched its own ‘boat tour’ and 8 seniors joined our boat leader Joo Kek and driver Alvin for a journey up Singapore River from Kallang Riverside. We hope to continue to offer this to more groups of seniors monthly.

Here’s to a successful journey of educating and inspiring the next generation to care for our planet! Thank you for your dedication to this important cause.

  2. This week a total of 72 members were involved in CSR/VIA programs, talk, patrols, administration, housekeeping duties, and training.
  3. The total trash collected by the patrol groups was 45 kg.

Once again, we sincerely thank all members and volunteers, who came for patrol or for facilitating the CSR/VIA programs, for your time and dedication to the task. Without your support we would not have been able to achieve this. Young and old, we all must care for our environment. Sustainability is the only way forward.
