Dear Friends,

OVERVIEW

“Our Dedication”

We kicked off the year with a relaxed first week, devoid of any formal programs. Despite the absence of scheduled activities, we utilised this downtime wisely, engaging in some much-needed housekeeping and training sessions.

On January 1, 2024, a commendable turnout of 10 members dedicated their day to a Biodiversity Pond Clean-Up. The collective effort made a positive impact, contributing to the well-being of our local environment.

In the afternoon, the spirit of camaraderie flourished as approximately 30 members, including some of our dedicated cleaning contractors, gathered for a delightful New Year pot-luck lunch. The festive atmosphere was heightened by the inclusion of turkey and ham in the menu, fostering a sense of community among attendees.

The weekend unfolded with an enriching kayak rescue training session for 25 of our regular facilitators on Saturday. A special note of appreciation goes to Hwee Shan and Andy, as well as all the participants, for their active involvement in making the training session a success.

Undeterred by Sunday morning rain, our weekend patrols persisted at Punggol, Lakeside, and Kallang/Marina. Notably, even in adverse weather conditions, the dedicated efforts of our members shone through. At Kallang, where 25 were originally rostered, 10 committed individuals showed up, demonstrating their unwavering commitment by engaging in housekeeping tasks. Truly, we are fortunate to have such dedicated and resilient members in our community.

Three cheers to the teachers, students and our facilitators! Young and old, we all must care for our environment. Sustainability is the only way forward.
