Dear Friends,
OVERVIEW
“Contaminating our own drinking water”
This week was highly disappointing. We have seen various members of the public contaminating and harming our drinking water, including cases of illegal fishing, illegal releasing of live fish (photo, top left), and found large amounts of trash and litter in the waters, from religious offerings wrapped in plastic (photo, middle), to general waste (photo, top right).
All of these actions listed, although they seem small, compile and become a massive issue that harms the biodiversity of the river. From contaminating the waters, or providing foreign animals to the river, to just general irresponsibility in relation to littering, creates a massively dirty river which ultimately hurts the general public the most, with the river being our literal drinking water source.
These actions prove to us that our mission to protect the environment and the river is far from over, and that we should continue working towards educating people on the importance of keeping our rivers clean and healthy.
