Dear Friends,
OVERVIEW
“Call to Keep our Nature Reserves and Parks Litter-Free!”
It is heartening to note that our authorities are taking steps all the time to ensure that our people would have a safe and enjoyable time when visiting our parks and reserves. On 23 January, a father and his daughter fell through a hole in a bridge at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. ‘The hole was caused by heavy rain and overflowing water during the peak of the spring tide, dislodging the floor panels’. (Straits Times, Monday 6 February 2023). There were many other similar incidents occurring before and the relevant authorities and concerned Nature enthusiasts have promptly given lots of advice of what to do when going for such outdoor activities. Safety for all is of primary concern no doubt. You can help by communicating promptly with the relevant authorities or to Waterways Watch Society any sightings of potential safety issues giving accurate location references. Thank you.
Call To Keep Our Parks and Nature Reserves Litter-Free!
The Waterways Watch Society would like to suggest that in addition to the 8 pointers of how to stay safe as listed in the same newspaper reporting when going out on such outings, visitors going to parks and nature reserves should bring along trash bags. This would help them to properly dispose of their trash by bringing them out of the area. Every little bit helps! Your individual action counts!
