Dear Friends,
Sorry for the late report due to busy arrangement of incoming ICCS. We have been very busy this week.
This was another great week. WWS had a successful and smooth AGM with election of new office bearers and passing of our accounts. Our Annual Report should be ready for sharing very soon (thanks to Chia Chia and Shiang Nee). It was a Corporate Week as all schools were in exam lock-down. We did seven programs in total. There were three Kayak Waterway Clean-up for Natsteel (35 pax), Xaxis (14 pax) and NVPC (36 pax); two Boat Waterway Clean-up for Dell (22 pax) and Senoko (21); one Pedal-boat Waterway Clean-up for Xaxis (4 pax) and one Bicycle Waterway Clean-up for 18 staff from Salesforce.
There was dialogue session with PUB and MPA organised by SCF attended by CEO. It was a good session for Waterways.
Kallang Saturday Bike patrol had a very good turn up rate, 12 members participated. For Sunday, although we had our AGM in the afternoon, 14 members still attended patrol on Sunday at Kallang. For AGM we had a total of 56 members attending.
Total litter collected for the week’s program was 142kg.
There were fewer engagements on fishing this week, 2 cases engaged and 2 cases sighted only. At the flyer some litter left behind appear to be by fishermen (see photos).
No patrols were done for Punggol and Lakeside due to our AGM however Punggol had two weekday patrols done by 3 members.
During the weekend, Saturday patrol sighted contractor lorry taking water from drain along Jalan Kappa (see photos). The same was sighted on monday, 2nd. Sept. 2019 at 1400hrs. (reported to PUB Barrage again with photos).
The drains outside The Cage was finally clean but litter still sighted around Costa Rhu (see photos). Saturday patrol group spotted algae bloom at Geylang River (Tg.Rhu) and a damaged PUB sensor opposite blk. 10 Jalan Batu flats sighted and reported.
The area outside the barrage (Sea) has lots of litter accumulating near the barrage boat crane. (see photo). Not sure who in-charge for the sea, MPA Cleaners? The front of the Flyer is hotspot for smokers, there were plenty of cigarette butts (see photo).
We continue to see PMDs and PABs still in Kallang and our concerns remain the same: speeding and without helmets.
