Dear Friends,
Yet another short week. Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all our muslim members and partners. Waterways however still managed to do eight programs with school and corporates. For schools, we did one school talk at Assumption Pathway (100 students attended) and two sections of OBS Kayak Clean-up for a total of 90 students. We did four other Kayak Clean-Up for Essence global (13 pax) , Makino (39 pax), NUS Environmental Studies Alumni (20 pax) and participants of Cancer Can Give movement (31 pax); and also did one Bicycle Waterway Clean-up with 49 pax from Mitsubishi. Other than that, we had two recce site meetings with new clients: 3M and BHP, to discuss their coming CSR.
A total of 28 members did duty this weekend at Punggol and marina and in addition, 6 members did two weekday patrols at Punggol. We had one new member do orientation at Punggol and four at Lakeside on our launch day.
This Sunday, we officially launched our Lakeside Garden Branch (Jurong). A total of 40 members attended (see photos).
We thank Nparks Kartini and NEA Tony for joining us at our launch. Kayak, Boat and Bike patrols were done at Jurong, and Kayak patrol collected about 8Kg and bike patrol collected 1 kg.
Polite engagement was done with public around the park. Mainly on No Fishing and Anti-Littering engagement (see photos Lakeside Gardens).
This week we collected a total of 73 kg around the Marina alone. Around punggol branch, the waterways are beginning to have more litter nowadays and mainly of plastic origin. Weekend patrol at Marina also sighted litter along OCBC Aquatic, along the riverside and grass patch at the Kallang Dragonboat Nursery Beach (see photos). Some oil residual sighted around Arthur Bridge and reported to PUB.
Notice of our AGM 2019 on 1st Sept. was sent out on Friday, 16th Aug.
On the finance side we receive good news on some donations from BA Aviation and Community Foundation Singapore (CFS). Thank you.
