Thank you PUB for your nomination. We are happy to receive the Star Partner Award under the Public Sector Transformation (PST) Award 2019. The members of Waterways Watch thanks you for this recognition.
It was yet another hectic week for us. This must be the popular season for us. In total, we did 11 engaging programs. There were five program with schools: the last River Monster Junior with Stamford American International School (17 pax),two WWE – at Seletar for North Oarks Primary School (44) and Punggol for Edgefield Primary School (26 pax), a booth at Bukit View Primary (over 50 student visitors and proactive), and a Kayak program for father and son from Queenstown Primary School (46 pax ). There were also two Kayak Clean-up program for OBS Camps with a total of 102 participants.
Under the Corporate side, we did a Kayak for new citizens (NVPC) for 37 participants, two small groups for Health Can Be Fun (6 pax) and Prudential Insurance (6 pax) and one with Infineon on Bicycle and Foot (29 pax). In addition we had three safety boat duties for the week. For the week, we were blessed with fairly good weather to conduct all our programs.
There was a meeting with students from Temasek Poly and Bukit Batok Secondary for their June VIA with WWS.
It was a record-breaking weekend, as a total of 55 members for Marina and 5 for punggol did weekend duty and weekend programs. There was also 3 new members joining WWS this weekend (1 Marina and 2 Punggol). Garden crew was down in full-force and did some good gardening for our CIB Garden. Due to vacation schedule, punggol admin did not do any weekday duty this week.
There was 20 engagement on anti-littering done on Sunday; five groups of fishing engagement in Marina and two groups in Punggol; one smoker was engaged for smoking at non-smoking zone at Punggol.
Total litter collected this week was 112.4 Kg.
The Saturday and Sunday Bike Patrol also reported personal items stored below Sir Arthur’s Bridge – bicycles, on the ceiling below bridge as per photos attached. We have reported this to DPC.
Sunday bike patrol also sighted dangerous sharp object sticking out in the middle of footpath behind Kallang MRT. We made some temporary measures to cover the object and reported to NEA and NParks (not sure whose jurisdiction this area but DPC subsequently rectified this within 2 hours. Super DPC. -See photos).
On Sunday, we had some simple home cook(spaghetti) lunch after patrols done for all members on duty.
