Dear Friends, It was another busy week for Waterways Watch Society. In the week, we had 3 kayak River Clean-Up Programmes with Raffles Institution (32 pax), St Francis Methodist School (10pax) and Alpha Society (25pax), 2 WWE school Programmes (Westwood Secondary School at KRILL (40 pax) and at Pangsua Pond (38 pax), 2 Assembly talks with Cres Secondary School (800 pax) as well as 2 Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes with Salesforce (35 pax) and SATAIR Singapore (13 pax). The team also did 1 recce and discussion with Ngee Ann Polytechnic to discuss potential Solar Sea-Bin Project. The project was further discussed with PUB and Gardens on a possible location for the sea-bin to maximise its potential. The Society also had another meeting with Nparks in Jurong Lake on our new office container site. The project was held back but the preparation work on our pontoon jetty at Jurong continued. A recce was done by the team for Entrust Datacard on their upcoming beach clean-up event. During the week, there were 4 sightings on illegal Fishing on Sunday by our boat patrol. Oil pollution was sighted up Geylang River on Saturday by out patrol team; the incident was reported to PUB. However,patrol members did not do any anti-littering engagement as there was no bike patrol. There were a total of 26 members who did weekend duties at our Marina HQ and 3 members at our Punggol Office. We are proud to say that there was one enquiry to do kayak clean-up from a participant from our WWS Carnival 2019.
