Dear Friends,
Happy Chinese New Year from all staffs and volunteers of Waterways Watch Society! As Chinese New Year falls on this week, we had only 1 Kayak Clean up session with Christ Church Secondary School. We had also 2 meeting sessions with students from RI and NVPC. There were no safety boat duties made this week. In total, we collected a total of 55KG of litter, where most of the litter sighted are plastic bottles and plastic packagings.
This week, we had a total of 25 members assisting in our patrols at Marina. During our Sunday boat patrol, our patrol members passed by several areas along the Marina Reservoir, all the way till Kim Seng bridge. Water is clear, except that there were several dead fishes sighted, quite more than usual. There were no anti-littering engagements but we had 2 fishing engagements done this week.
During our bike patrol, we saw a ‘Sheares’ lettered hat and a $5 note.
We also had a rare visitor this week, large, beautiful Snake Head Fish.
